Michelle Powderly

Fiddle, Play & Plé

Michelle Sheridan hails from Navan , Co. Meath. She started learning the fiddle with Gerry O Connor when she was 10 years old and as a teenager she continued learning with Geraldine Smith. She took part in fleadhanna ceoil through her teenage years and has a lifelong love and devotion to traditional Irish music . She is a regular guest musician at numerous annual traditional music festivals accompanied by her husband David.

In 2010 the TG4 Trad Music programme Geantrai was filmed in 2010 Teach Dolmain. Michelle played with Tara Connaghan and Eoin O Neill . Michelle also teaches tunes to Trad music enthusiasts living in Carlow. Michelle and Dave play with their trusty guitar accompanist Eric Butler every Thursday night in Teach Dolmain Carlow .

Dave Sheridan

Fiddle, Play & Plé

David Sheridan hails from the village of Tubber, Co.Offaly. He began playing the tin whistle and moved on to the fiddle when fellow Offaly man, Dan Cleary started teaching. Dave was successful in All-Ireland competitions such as Fleadhanna, Scór and Oireachtas. David has toured Ireland, Britain and USA with Comhaltas groups and has since represented Ireland in festivals in Japan, China and Mozambique among countless European events.

In 1986, David moved to Carlow, where he now resides. He is a fixture on the local traditional music scene, playing in sessions and performing on stage. He met many great musicians in Carlow and Kilkenny and with these heroes has helped to put traditional Irish music on the Carlow music scene.

Mikie Smyth

Uilleann Pipes

Mikie Smyth began playing the pipes at the age of nine. His first teachers were Colm De Brun and Andy Conroy in the Pipers Club in Henrietta Street Dublin. Mikies mother is a proud Meath woman, from Bohermeen - an area with a strong connection to Uilleann piping. Bohermeen, and specifically around the area of Navan, has a history of uilleann piping, with local piper John Kane photographed playing there around 1898. Mikie Smyth has worked for many piping organisations and traditional summer schools, including the Willie Clancy and Joe Mooney summer schools. Mikie has performed both as a soloist and with many shows. Mikie has recorded a solo album The Wild Keys and has also recorded with Donal Lunny, Maurice Lennon, and Sean Keane to mention a few.
