Rockfield House, Kells, Co. Meath - A82 V9D5

Áine Bird is a traditional Irish fiddle player from Tara, Co. Meath. Encouraged by her father, a flute player, she learned from Antóin Mac Gabhann and was also influenced by Catherine McEvoy. As a teenager, she competed successfully at a high level in Fleadhanna and is a former Oireachtas fiddle champion. Áine was a member of the band Cruinniú, touring at festivals in Ireland and internationally. She now lives and works in the Burren, Co. Clare where she performs regularly with her husband, Jack Talty.

Childhood musical friends will join Áine - Caitlín Nic Gabhann is a regular performer at festivals and in concert halls from North America all the way to Asia. She is also an accomplished dancer and has toured the world with Riverdance as a troupe dancer. Anne-Marie Grogan is a Meath flute player from Ratoath. A recent All-Ireland champion with the Beartla ÓFlatharta , 2024 Senior Céili Band champions. She grew up learning tin whistle and flute from Catherine Mc Evoy.Anne-Marie was part of the band Cruinniu and travelled with them playing at various festivals in Ireland and abroad.

Nollaig Ní Laoire & Aedín Nic Dhuarcáin - Songs handed down from generation to generation with Nollaig and Aedín. Nollaig has been singing sean-nós a long while now having performed on numerous stages across different festivals and concerts.  She has generously shared her wealth of knowledge of the sean-nós tradition with the next generation. Aedín is a daughter of Nollaig's sister Caitríona, who is also a great exponent of the sean-nós tradition singing herself and passing on the tradition to her family. Her children have grown up listening to songs and were lucky to attend classes with the legendary Mairéad ní Cheallaigh in Rathcairn. They have taken part in lots of Fleadhanna over the years and Aedín is the current All-Ireland u18 champion.

Amhráin ón gclann atá i gceist leis an mbeirt...Aintín agus neacht iad Nollaig agus Aedín. Is fada a bhí Nollaig ag canadh agus roinn sí a cuid amhráin go flaithiúil leis an gcéad glúin eile. Is iníon í Aedín le deirfiúr Nollaig,Caitríona atá ina saineolaí í féin ar an gcultúr agus ar an sean-nós. D'fhás clann Chaitríona  aníos ag éisteacht leis na hamhráin agus freisin ag freastal ar ranganna le Mairéad ní Cheallaigh í Rathcairn. Is iomaí fleadh agus ócáid  ar chas siad aige agus bhí an bua ag Aedín ag Fleadh na hÉireann 2025 i Loch Garman.

Traditional Music & Song in Co. Meath - 300 page hardback book.

This book gathers what is known about traditional music & song in the county, from O'Carolan in the early 1700s to the young musicians playing & teaching today. It reveals the key role that Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann has played in advancing music & song since the early 1960s, it looks at the music of pipers, harpers, fiddlers, the céilí bands and the concertina players, and it reviews the song tradition and the influence of the Gaeltacht. It shows a vibrant community sustaining a vibrant tradition and being, in its turn, sustained by it.

Please email if interested in acquiring. As this is a 300 page hardback, there is a €10 postage charge.
